About me
Hey, thanks for looking at my profile. My names Rob, well I guess you'd like to know a little more about me? Well, i'm tall, blonde, blue eyed and single, hence on a dating site :P Professionally im a self employed sparky (Electrician) but i specialise in garden lighting so I tend to spend more time doing hard landscaping than wiring things together. Personally, I tend to have quite a sarcastic and dry sense of humor - i'd have just said good, but victor meldrew would describe himself as having a good sense of humor on a dating site - erm, what else, ah! Hobbies! Right, well i do a fair bit of salsa dancing, im not particularly good, i just do a lot of it. I'm quite a bibliophile (I read a lot of books, no, its not something sexual..) I like travelling and I spend a fair bit of time tinkering around in the engine bay of my car.. admittedly more attempting to fix whatever it is my tinkering has broken rather than do any good. About me
- Where I liveI really like where I live - its not too far from a few cool places to shop (go camden :P) theres a big park nearby with a fantastic view, i'll often stroll up there to just sit on the bench and relax, and theres quite a varied amount of things to do nearby.
- Where are you originally from?North London, though ive lived in Scotland for a couple of years and spent a fair bit of time out in Australia and New Zealand
- Do you want to stay there?For the moment yeah, I wouldnt mind moving out to the countryside, but I think thats gonna end up being a retirement plan - i guess i'd suit a house with a huge (as in couple of acres!) bit of land, i could potter around all day and raise chickens :P
- What is your occupation?I'm a self employed hard landscaper/builder/sparky/carpenter/gardener :P K, maybe I should explain that a little more - I build gardens from scratch (going back to design school for it too, yay me..) A lot of that involves building work, but it was a bugger getting in a sparky to do the lighting so I went back to college to become a qualified domestic electrical installer. Plus a lot of the work i do involves building things like sheds, pagoda's, sentry huts, baroque garden furniture, etc hence the carpenter. Finally once all the hard works done I put the plants in the ground to, so if ya wanna know why your wysteria never flowers you know who to ask :P
- What are your future plans?As i mentioned earlier im going back to college two days a week to study design. Work wise i'd like to get into more architectural work (hey, it pays more :P ) and i'd love to end up doing a garden for the Chelsea Flower Show. Life wise, meh, dont really like planning everything out too much - i have some rough ideas on buying a cellar and turning it into a flat, but if it all falls through so be it. As long as I have friends, family, and the chance to do the things I enjoy i'll be happy.
- Your perfect partnerWell personality wise, somebody fairly extroverted would be good - i can be quite introverted so it would balance things out nicely :P Somebody with enough differences to make life interesting (hey, i enjoy debating with people, what can i say.) but enough similarities that we can still go out and do things together. Somebody who's just as tactile as me! I like cuddling, random kisses and holding hands so its quite important that my partner does too. Somebody who actually enjoys going to the theatre, art galleries or visiting slightly kooky places, and doesnt just say they do to appear like an interlectual. Looks, well, thats slightly harder, i've never found myself attracted to one particular type of person before. Though nice eyes, a nice smile and a nice voice are big plus points. Oooh, someone a tad taller than the average of 5'4" for women would be nice - being six three it can be annoying if your constantly stooping to kiss them. Ooh, and finally someone who understood everything in my perfect partner list without reaching for the dictionary :P
Stuff I like
- What are you interests/hobbies?Too many to list without sending you to sleep :P But a couple of main ones, i'm quite a big bibliophile, (I read alot if your wondering, no, its not a weird fetish) also a pretty big movie buff - i'll quite happily watch almost anything on the big screen, though i reserve the right to be extremely mocking and sarcastic about the film afterwards. Walking! I walk alot - usually i'll walk to work and walk back with a backpack full of guff, i tend to cover about 20 miles a day. I'd love to walk from lands end to john o'groats (986 miles :S) sometime soonish, and go hiking and camping up in the french alps.
- MusicAnything. Seriously, you should see whats on my MP3 player, from rock to hip hop to soul to RnB to jazz to opera to the blues. Oooh, and a couple of songs from the mikado for giggles.
- Your fav books/authorsHmm, pretty much anything fictional really, though mainly sci-fi and fantasy. Oh, but I cant stand mills and boon type books, they just seem a bit, well, condescending. As for my partner, she can read whatever she likes, as long as she understands there will be the occasional time where I just have to get to the end of the chapter :P
- What sort of movies do you like?As I said in things i like, anything! I prefer good horrors, cheesy ninja films and high brow comedies like high fidelity to things like beerfest or the marine, but i'll quite happily watch anything.
- Types of people you like?I dislike superior types - the 'im better than you because i have a university education/rich parents/six-pack' types, generally I tend to mock them, to the point of reducing them to tears if they really annoy me. Apart from that i get on with loads of different types of people, so I wouldnt say i have a particular type i get on with.
- FoodAnything again, just as long as its not too spicy - I like trying new things but if the first mouthful makes me wish i'd lined my mouth with asbestos then its probably not gonna be something i like.
- DrinksI like fruit juice and smoothies more than anything. Oh, and diet red bull, but only because i couldn't function in the mornings without it. (I'm a coffee snob, and it takes too much concentration to get the coffee out of the freezer, find the percolator, boil water and everything else at 6am) As for booze, I never really get pissed, but thats more down to having quite a high tolerance to alcohol rather than being tee-total. Good scotch tends to be my poison of choice, ooh, or a snakebite and black at the devonshire arms.
My attitude
- PoliticsPersonally I think anyone who wants to be a politician should automatically be disqualified. Apart from that i'm so disgusted with the way the country is run I dont subscribe to any of the main political parties. And on that note, if you've managed to read this entire, hugely long winded, profile you should so send me a message to say hello! Seriously people, dont be shy, you now know enough about me to either really like me or hate me, so either way let me know how you feel! :P
